The Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition

By Ant

On Saturday (18th) I caught the penultimate day of the Summer Exhibition with fellow Cule sibling Erika. It was a quite amazing collection, full of a huge variety of work in all manner of styles. This year the curation was led by Grayson Perry (click on that link to see Perry lead a walkthrough of the exhibition). As ever (apparently; I’ve never been before) Academians hung alongside entries from the general populace. This year there were upwards of 20,000 submissions.

Each room had its own feel, having been hung by an Academian under Perry’s watchful eye. What follows are the artworks that caught my eye, or I found somehow striking - and they give a flavour of the sheer variety on display at the exhibition. Enjoy!
